Abstract

861,752. Pipe couplings. MAICO-FAHRZEUGFABRIK G.m.b.H. Oct. 21, 1959 [Oct. 22, 1958], No. 35625/59. Class 99(1). A pipe connection, Fig. 1, has a tension bush 2 comprising at one end an externally conical tightening shank 3, an external thread 5 and longitudinal slots 4 and at its other end an external annular flange 6, a tension nut 8 having an internal conical portion and an internal threaded portion 7 being adapted to be screwed over the tension bush 2, thus clamping it to the pipe end 1. A screw ring 10 has an internal annular flange 12 adapted to be drawn up tight against flange 6 by means of a screw cap 13 engaging a threaded projection 11 on ring 10 and associated with an opposite pipe or branch end, a sealing ring 15 being clamped between the two juxtaposed faces of the pipes. Axial security may be provided by internal grooves 9 in the conical shank. As shown, cap 13 has a flange 14 abutting the flange of a bush 2 associated with a second pipe end 1a ; alternatively the screw cap may screw directly on to a branch pipe end fitting. Seal 15 may be replaced by a seal 17 having a circular segmental cross-section, the pipe ends being drawn on to its surface as shown in Fig. 2.
