Abstract
861,037. Erecting tower cranes; pulleys and tackle. TICHAUER, M. June 19, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 21184/59. Classes 78 (2), 78 (4) and 78 (5). A balancing device 13, Fig. 1, comprising a weighted lever is connected to a tower crane mast element 12 to form an assembly to enable the element to be lifted and added to the mast structure by means of the crane hook 9, the distance between the centre of gravity of the element 12 and the assembly being equal to or greater than the minimum operational radius of the hook 9. As shown, Fig. 4, the mast head 5 can be raised to allow enough space for an opensided element to be added to the mast by holding a carriage 8 against a stop 36 so that a force applied to a rope 23 will urge yokes 29, 32, of a block and tackle towards each other thereby hoisting the mast head 5 by means of a rope 33. The device 13, which is attached to an element 12 by means of a hook bolt 18, Fig. 1, is subsequently detached from the element which has been placed on the mast, and suspended at its centre of gravity to enable it to be returned to the ground by means of the hook 9. Specification 853,096 is referred to.
