Class 82(1) [Also in Group XXII] A molten metal container has at least one delivery outlet which includes a metering nozzle and a generally tubular heat shield interposed between the metering nozzle and the exterior of the container wall so as to form an intermediate chamber between said nozzle and shield of greater diameter than the bores of the nozzle and shield. In a ladle, the tubular heat shield 14 of plumbago &c. defines in part the intermediate chamber 18 beneath the metering nozzle 7, a heat conductive sheath 6 of graphite or carborundum surrounding all or part of the assembly.
