Abstract

A steel has the following composition: <TABS:1007175/C6-C7/1> the balance, apart from impurities, being iron. In a preferred method of making the steel of this invention the Nb and V are injected into the free casting jet during casting the steel into chills or moulds by means of a carrier gas such as N2, A or He, the metal preferably being in the form of solid particles having a maximum grain size of 3 mm.
