Abstract
Appts. consists of an Al tube, or in the case of more than one additive, two concentric tubes suspended vertically or obliquely inside the ingot mould. The tubes contain the addition materials in finely divided form. As the molten metal mounts in the mould the tubes are melted and the additive materials distributed in the metal. The dimensions of the tubes are calculated so that the desired deoxidation and residual Al content are obtained in the finished ingot.
