Abstract

Additions and/or alloying constituents are introduced while steel is being cast into an ingot mould by holding the addition in pulverulent form in a tube suspended vertically into the mould. The tube is fusible or combustible and may itself be an alloying addition e.g. Al and is progressively destroyed as the level of molten steel in the mould uses.
