858,855. Induction heating. WILDBARFIELD ELECTRIC FURNACES Ltd. May 8, 1957 [May 15, 1956], No. 15159/56. Class 39(3). An inductively heated roller comprises a ferro-magnetic cylinder 4, e.g. of steel, rotatable about a fixed coaxial low frequency inductor 6 and having its inner surface covered with a thin coating 5 of non-magnetic electrically conducting metal such as copper. The inductor includes a laminated iron core 7 surrounded by a multi-turn coil of wire with insulation, for example, of varnish-impregnated woven glass. The air gaps 9 between the closed ends of the cylinder 4 and the core 7 are made as small as possible.
