Abstract

1,033,483. Conveying through furnaces. M. BAERMANN. April 1,1964 [April 1, 1963], No. 13488/64. Headings F4B and F4G. [Also in Division H1] Metal strip 3 coated with plastic varnish in a spray chamber 6 is floated in the heating chamber 8 and cooling chamber 13 of a continuous drying oven by magnetic repulsion induced by rotary magnetic pole discs 11. Permanent magnets 16, Fig. 2 (not shown), are mounted in the discs which are disposed in recesses 10 in thermal insulation 9 in the heating chamber and are driven by motors 12. In a modification. Fig. 4 (not shown), stationary magnets having a coil winding and energized by alternating current replace the rotary discs 11. Another modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), for dealing with ferro-magnetic strip &c. has an auxiliary pole shoe running longitudinally of the oven outside the thermal insulation, which is surrounded by spaced magnetizing coils so connected to their power source as to generate fields of opposite polarity in adjacent coils.
