Abstract

857,048. Windows; window blinds. SAGARO, J., SAGARO, F., and SAGARO, F. March 18, 1958 [March 22, 1957; Sept. 18, 1957; Feb. 4, 1958], No. 8583/58. Class 20(3) A blind 5 has sections of differing opacities or of differing ornamentation which may be selectively drawn over a transparent panel. The blind is wound on two rollers 1 and preferably passes between the panes 6, 7 of a double window. As shown in Fig. 5 the blind is operated by the contact of an endless plastic cord 4 running on pulleys 3 with a friction ring 24 on the rollers 1. The pulleys 3 are mounted on a support 25 movable towards either roller by means of a lever 26. In a modification (Fig. 4 not shown) two endless cords are used, one wrapped round each other. Another operating method is shown in Fig. 3 in which 10 is a shaft extending from the roller 1 and carrying a pulley 17 rotatable on the shaft against a spring 18. The shaft 10 carries a ratchet wheel 12 which may be linked to the pulley 17 by a pawl 14 mounted on a spring 15. About the pulley is wound an operating cord 19. On pulling the cord it tightens on the spring 15 moving the pawl into engagement with the ratchet, the shaft 10 rotates with the pulley and the blind is unwound. On releasing the cord the spring 15 moves the ratchet pawl out of engagement with the ratchet and the pulley under the influence of spring 18 re-winds the cord without rotating shaft 10.
