Abstract

The rod is supported by end brackets and a central bearing. The screw thread has a shallow profile and a large pitch and can extend in one direction, if only one curtain is to be moved, or extend in two separate sections in opposite directions if two curtains are used. At one end is the operating cord which runs round a pulley to form an endless loop. A ratchet ensures no slipping takes place after drawing. Operation is by hand or an electric motor, the rings of the curtains travelling along the rod for opening or closing.
