Abstract

1,085,095. Vertical slat louvre blinds &c. D. PHILLIPS. June 8, 1965 [June 8, 1964; Aug. 26, 1964], No. 23555/64. Heading E1J. In a vertical slat louvre-type blind screen partition, shutter or the like, the slats are so suspended from the runners of an overhead track as to be biased when hanging freely, towards and take up the fully open position. Fig. 3 shows one embodiment in which the slat 7 is suspended from the runner 5 by two cords which twist when the slat 7 is rotated about its vertical axis, and when the rotating force is removed, the cords untwist. In Fig. 4 the spiral pivot fixed to the slat 7 rotates when the slat is rotated, in a bearing 19 and lifts the slat which, under gravity, returns to its original position when the turning force is removed from the slats. This turning force is provided by a bar on one or both sides, and pivoted to a cross arm, in turn pivoted on the track, so that when moved longitudinally it presses on the edges of the slats and causes them to rotate.
