Abstract

A slatted roller blind has at least one section, which section may consist of at least one slat 3, in which the slat or slats are pivotable to open but of the plane of the screen when in its closing position and is/are connected to the non- openable slats 2, 4 so as to be pivoted by the weight of the non-openable slats. As shown in Fig. 1 the opening slats 3 are pivoted at their inner edges on metal carrier tapes 5 windable on and off the roller 1, and to one side of their centre points or at their outer edges to a connecting metal tape 6. The non-opening slats below the opening slats are suspended from the outer edge of the lowest opening slat 3, Fig. 1, from a lower extension of the carrier tape 5, Fig. 3, or may be from the connecting tape 5f, Fig. 8, in which case the inner edges of the slats are pivoted on the connecting tape 6f. The opening slats may be connected by link work 20a-20d, Fig. 7 and by pivoted arms 26 so that the slats 3 are successively pivotable into and out of the open position. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the weight of the opening slats 3 themselves and of the screen section below the pivotable section of slat 3 is used for pivoting the slats into the open position. In Fig. 1, the weight of the opening slats 3 alone and any non- openable slats above provide for the opening of the slats 3. A slat, as shown in Fig. 12, has a biased longitudinal edges 53 pivoted on metal tapes 44 by co-operating with metal or plastic hook members 45 riveted &c to the carrier tapes to provide a pinless hinge, and the slat 51 may be pivoted intermediate its ends by a hook-shaped scrolled tongue stamped out of the central portions of the slat cooperating with a hook 45a or on the carrier tape 56.
