Abstract

1,032,124. Venetian blinds. R. W. SKILTON. Oct. 24, 1963 [Oct. 29, 1962], No. 40817/62. Heading E1J. In a venetian blind the tilting mechanism comprises a ladder support for each ladder tape 15, 16, Fig. 2 and consists in a frame 1, Fig. 1, of hollow T-section carrying in the bearing holes 4 a rotatable shaft 5, Fig. 2, which is horizontal and perpendicular to the plane of the blind and either or both walls 15, 16 of the ladder tape is/are coiled around the shaft 5 and secured thereto as by C-spring 18 so that rotation of the shaft 5 causes relative vertical movement between the walls 15, 16 and a single drive such as the cords 10, 10<SP>1</SP> wrapped around a drum 9 on each shaft 5 causes when a cord is pulled, both the shafts to rotate together. The lifting and lowering cords 8, Fig. 4 secured at one end to a weight on the bottom of each ladder tape, passes over a roller 26 and co-operates with a cord locking member 29 in a box frame 22 and then over a roller having its bearings in the holes 6, Fig. I located below the holes 4.
