796,936. Venetian blinds. ROLLADENFABRIK A. GREISSER AKT.-GES. March 29, 1956, No. 10002/56. Class 20(3) The drive shaft 2 of a venetian blind has rigidly mounted thereon two serrated drums 11, each with collars 27 to retain a slat-carrying tape 13 and a central groove 18 to accommodate a draw cord 17. The shaft 2 is driven by bevel gears 3, 4 from a shaft 5, itself driven by a crank shaft 10 through worm gears 6, 7, 8, 9. When the drum 11 is rotated, as in Fig. 3, the draw cord 17 unwinds and the tape 13 is carried until slats 15 supported by cross webs 14 assume the almost vertical position shown in dotted lines; during further movement of the drum, the tape 13 and slats 15 remain stationary since the dead weight of the slats 15 is not overcome by the friction between the tape 13 and the drum 11, but the cord 17 continues to be unwound. Movement in the opposite direction brings the slats 15 to a horizontal position and then to the opposite vertical position, and winds up the cord 17.
