Abstract

1,174,127. Venetian blinds. J. AVERY & CO. (Est. 1834) Ltd. 24 July, 1968 [19 July, 1967; 7 March, 1968], Nos. 33058/67 and 11026/68. Heading E1J. The lowering and raising operation and tilting operation of a venetian blind are effected by one control shaft 13 operated by an endless cord 15 on pulley 14 which on pulling rotates through gearing 22 a drum 14 on shaft 25 to wind thereon or thereoff, a series of lifting tapes 27, 28, one tape for each lifting location, which run along the head rail 11 being guided vided by cross members 31, 32, 33 of the gear box 12 and down through apertures such as 38 in the base of the head rail, the tilt of the slats being effected by a drum 61 carried on shaft 51 and which carries the tilt cords 63, and geared through worm gearing 55, 52 and reduction gearing 19, 18, 17 to shaft 13. Shaft 51 is maintained in longitudinal position by collar 66. The slats are held in adjusted position by means of a brake member 42 of nylon secured at one end by screw 43 to the head base and adjusted at its other end by a screw 43 to the head base and adjustable at its other en dby a screw 44 to adjust the pressure of the brake on the cord 15 passing over the pulley 14 to a valve which prevents the weight of the slats &c. from lowering the blind from its raised position.
