Abstract

856,717. Drilling-machines. ARCHDALE & CO. Ltd., J. Sept. 30, 1959 [Oct. 10, 1958], No. 32369/58. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIII] A drilling, boring, reaming, screw-threading or honing machine comprises a work-support 6 movable about an axis, tool indexing means 12 and a tool-carrier 10 traversible along an arm 8 movable about a parallel axis 7, and means 9 inter-connecting the support and arm for equal angular movements. The tool carrier may have one or more tools 11 movable to-and-from the work by power-operated screws &c. The tool 11 passes through a hole in the indexing-bar 12 movable longitudinally and connected by a pin 14 to a notched bar 13 adjustable angularly on the support 6. By placing the pin 14 in successive holes in the bar 13 parallel rows of holes are produced. In a modification, the tool 11, Fig. 3, is indexed along the arm by a screw 21 and handle 23. The arm 8 is adjusted by a screw 25 mounted for angular adjustment. Alternatively, the screw 25 may be adjusted by re-connecting the table-adjusting links 9 at different points 27.
