Abstract

856,658. Lifebelts. SWITLIK PARACHUTE. CO. Inc. April 22, 1958 [April 30, 1957], No. 12713/58. Class 77. In a lifebelt comprising an inflatable unit 12, Figs. 2, 6, stowed in a pouch 10, Fig. 1, both the unit and the pouch are adapted to be individually fastened around a wearers waist. The pouch is in the form of a belt having telescopically connected portions 26, 27, 25, Fig. 4, waist adjustment being effected by a strap and buckle 28, 30. Each belt section 25, 26 has a waist contact portion 38, Fig. 6, having apertured wing flaps 42, 43, 44 and a portion 39 with flaps 46, 47 and the deflated unit 12 is held adjacent the portion 38 in a loop 53. In 'unit stowed' position the portion 39 is folded over the unit and the portion 38, such that the flap 46 embraces the upper edge 41 of the portion 38 and is snap held thereto at 52.
