A child's playsuit comprises a portion extending longitudinally downward on the front of the body to pass under the crotch and cover part of the back of the body, a transverse portion that is wrapped around the body and co-operating fastening means on the opposite ends of the longitudinal portion to connect the ends together. A girl's playsuit, Figs. 1 and 3, comprises a longitudinal portion 11 with tapes 13, 14 at its ends for tying on the shoulders and a transverse portion 12 attached at the central part of its upper edge 22 so that when wrapped around the wearer's body it forms a skirt. The skirt may be gathered and fastened by cords 26, 27 in its upper hem or fastened by buttons or snapfasteners. In a second embodiment, Fig. 9, the longitudinal and transverse portions are formed integrally as a T-shaped member. The transverse wings 43, 44 are wrapped around the front of the wearer and tied by tapes 57, 58, 59, 61. The longitudinal strip 42 passes under the crotch and is secured by double buttons 62, 64 engaging in button-holes 54, 56 and 69, 71 respectively in the wings 43, 44 and shoulder straps 67, 68. The garment is lined with plastic or other water-repellent material.
