The invention relates to a shirt 12, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, having overlapping front portions 16 and a permanently or detachably attached wing-collar 14 with a neckband 22 provided with a buttonhole 18<SP>1</SP> and a button 20<SP>1</SP> having a projection 24<SP>1</SP> constituting the male portion of a releasable snap-fastener, in combination with a made-up fourin-hand tie 30 comprising a body or fall 32, made of overlying layers of cloth 36, 38 integral with a knot 34 having a resilient insert 42 and wings 44, which are received under the wings 26 of the collar, an elastic strap 50 secured at one end, as by stitching 48, to the body 32 and carrying, at its other end, the female portion 52 of a snap-fastener, which, by stretching the strap, can be snapped on to the projection 24<SP>1</SP> to hold the wings of the knot under the wings 26 of the collar. The tie may also comprise Y-shaped deformable stiffener 40 made of sheet metal or as indicated by 40<SP>1</SP> in Fig. 4, of layers of plastic material 60, 62, enclosing a strip of sheet metal 66. The stiffener has wings 44<SP>1</SP> and a stem 65 which fit, respectively, in the wings 44 of the knot and the body 32 of the tie. The overlapping front portions 16 of the shirt are provided with buttonholes 18 and buttons 20. Each of these buttons may be provided with a projection 24, constituting the male portion of a releasable snap fastener and female portions 52 of such fasteners may be secured to the back of the tie, so that they can be snapped over the projections 24, to hold the tie against the shirt.
