Abstract

The present invention is directed to a necktie which consists of a body portion detachably secured to the collar of a shirt by a flexible spring wire member which engages over the neckband of the shirt and under the collar tabs of the shirt. The body member is provided with detachable fasteners and second body carrying wings detachably secured to the body member completely covering the body member and supporting wires.

NECKTIE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field ofthe Invention The present invention relates to decorative neckties which are detachably secured to the collar ofa shirt.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention includes a body member having separable fasteners mounted thereon. The body member is detachably mounted on the front of a shirt at the collar by means of a flexible spring wire secured to the body member with the wire having parts engaging over the neckband of the collar and other portions extending under the collar tabs. A second body carrying wings is detachably secured to the body member completely covering the body member and the wires.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a necktie which is detachably secured to the collar of a shirt and which has interchangeable detachable wing portions.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent in the following specification when considered in the light of the at tached drawings.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now to the drawings in detail wherein like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the several figures the reference numeral indicates generally a necktie constructed in accordance with the invention.

The necktie 10 is adapted for use with a conventional shirt collar generally indicated at 11 having a neckband 12 supporting a pair of

The necktie 10 includes a body member 15 formed of any suitable material such as plastic, hard rubber, or the like. The body member 15 has a generally flat front surface 16 having a pair offemale snap sockets 17 mounted therein.

A spring wire 18 has a loop 19 molded into the body 15 and engaging about a pin 20 extending through the body 15. The spring wire 18 has a loop 21 formed therein parallel to and adjacent the loop 19. The loop 21 is somewhat longer then the loop 19 and has a loop 22 integrally formed thereon and generally parallel thereto. The loop 22 is slightly longer then the loop 21 and has an arm 23 extending outwardly therefrom terminating in a coil 24 on the outer end thereof.

The spring wire 18 has a loop 25 formed therein oppositely of and the same size as the loop 21. A loop 26 is formed in the wire 18 adjacent the loop 25 and spaced therefrom. The 25 has the same length as the loop 21 and the loop 26 has the same length as the loop 22. The loop 26 has an arm 27 extending outwardly therefrom terminating in a coil 28 on the outer end ofthe arm 27.

A central elongate plastic body B is provided centrally with a pair of male snap members 30 which cooperate with the snap sockets 17 to secure the elongate body B to the body 15. A pair of wings 29 secured to the body B are illustrated in the form ofa butterfly in FIGS. 1 and 2, but may have any desired form including costume or genuine jewelry. The wings 29 of the butterfly can be made of white satin with the remaining portions embroidered in black or gold or any other desired decorative design.

Having thus described. the preferred embodiment of the invention it should be understood that numerous structural modifications and adaptations may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is:

1. A necktie comprising a body member, a flexible spring wire secured intermediate its opposite ends to said body member, means on said wire for detachably securing said wire and said body member to the collar of a shirt, a second body positioned to overlie said body member and means detachably securing said second body to said body member including a pair of snap sockets integrally formed in said body member and a pair of male snap members secured to said second body for detachable engagement with said snap sockets.

2. A device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means for securing said wire to the collar of a shirt includes a pair of oppositely disposed downwardly extending loops adapted to engage behind the neckband of the shirt.

3. A device as claimed in claim 1 wherein a pair of oppositely disposed arms are integrally formed on said wire for extending beneath the collar tabs of the collar.
