`With the foregoing and other objects in View, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment Vof the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can he resorted to which fall within the scope 30 of the claims hereunto appended.
1n the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views :4-
Figure l is a front elevation of a toy doll in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a front elevation, broken away, of the doll body and further illustrating the hair positioned on the head and the slippers upon the feet.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3, Figure 2.
Figure 4 is an elevation of one of the slippers.
The body portion of the doll is referred to generally by the reference character 1, is iiat throughout and consists of a base 2 of paper stock having secured throughout to each face thereof a fabric covering 3, 4. The base 2, as well as the coverings 3, 4, is of corresponding contour and shaped to provide a head 5, neck 6, arms 7, hands 8, body 9, legs and feet 11.
The fabric coverings 3,4 reinforce the base 2, under such conditions providing a practically indestructible body portion 1. c
The fabric coverings 3, 4 permit of the dress 12and hat 13 to be secured therewith by stitching to normally prevent the removal thereof when placed in position.
That portion of the covering 3, at the head `5, is provided with the representation of a mouth 14, nose 15, yeye openings 16, eye balls 17, andeye lashes 18and these several representations are `formedby threads secured to the fabricvv covering 3 and disposed in the .desired manner;` The threads are of a different color from the fabric covering 3. The fabric coveringy 3 can be suitably colored or tinted, as at 19, to represent rosy cheeks.
Positioned against the edge `of thehead 5, as well as overlapping the front and rear marginal portions thereof` is a mass of lhair 20, which projects from the hat 13 when the latter is secured. in position. The hat 13 is providedwith tie strings 21. Y
' Mounted on each foot portion'll for the purposeof enclosing it isthe representation of a slipper consisting of an open top flexible casing 22, having its front formed with a transversely extending opening to expose the foot portion l1. If desired the casing 23 can be detachably secured by stitching to either covering 3 or 4.
By way of example, the doll is illustrated of the female type, but it is obvious that the dress mounted on the doll body canbe. other than that as shown, for example the doll body can be provided with clothes to represent a male infant.
As the doll is of the flat type, several thereof can be readily packed in a travelling case without taking up the ordinary space occupied by a doll having a bodv of the rounded type.
It is thought the many advantages of a toy doll constructed in accordance with this invention, can be readily understood, and although the preferred construction of the doll body is as illustrated and described, yet it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
