To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AMELIA BAILLIE, a

subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of the borough and county of the Bronx, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garments, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to garments and more particularly to garments for children and has for its object to provide a combination garment'constructed in a novel manner and so as to be capable of being easily and quickly adjusted from the form in which it is worn to a dismantled fiat condition to facilitate laundering, storing and packing thereof. Other more specific objects will appear from the description hereinafter and the features of novelty will be pointed out in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings, which, without defining the limits of the invention, illustrate an example thereof in the form of a childs garment of the type commonly known as a bloomer dress, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the garment as it appears when worn; Fig. 2 is an inside face view showing the garment partly dismantled; Fig. 3 is an outside face view of the garment in it completely dismantled condition, and Fig. 4t is a similar view from the inside.

The garment shown in the drawings, which is intended to be illustrative of the invention, comprises a dress 10 consisting of a rear panel 11 and a front panel 12 cut out at 13 to form a neck opening of the desired shape and dimensions; the panels 11 and. 12 are adapted to be folded upon themselves along a shoulder line 14 to form the front and back of the dress and are provided with lateral extensions 15 arranged to form the sleeves of the garment. Any suitable means may be included for detachably connecting the front and rear panels to maintain the dress in the form in which it is intended to be worn; for instance. co-operating fastening devices 16 and 17 of the glove fastener type may be secured upon the panels 11 and 12 in a manner to cooperate with each other. With this arrangement, when the garment is worn, the dress will be slitted along its opposite sides in the desired fashionable manner which, at the present time, is popular for bloomer dresses; it will, of course, be understoodthat the number of devices 16 and 17 may be increased and their locations varied to provide different dress arrangements. In the preferred form the panels 11 and 12. are hemmed along their free edges, as indicated at 11 and 12 respectively.

In. the illustrated example, the garment includes bloomers 18, consisting of a front section 19 and a rear section 20 adapted to fold upon themselves along a line 21 and which are out inwardly along converging lines 22 and 23 to form recesses which consti'tute the' leg openings 24: when the garbloom er sections 19 and 20, which are integral continuations of each other, are preferably attached, through the medium of the 'front bloomer section19, upon the inside of the front panel 12 at a distance from its free edge and preferably adjacent to the inner edge of the hem12, as shown in Fig.

connected with each other along their side edges by means of co-operating fastening devices 25 and 26 and may further be provided with ribbon 27 adapted to be tied together in the form of bows at the outside lower edges of the leg openings 24, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. In addition, the free edge of the rear section 20 may he provided with a band 28 to which fastening devices in the form of buttons 29 may be sewed; the latter or their equivalents are intended for connection with buttonholes 30 or equivalent devices located upon tabs 31 sewed to or forming integral parts of the front panel 12, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4E. The devices 29 and 30 cooperate to maintain the rear sect-ion 20 of the bloomers in its closed position; the band 28 may further be provided with one or more buttonholes 32 adapted for connection with the usual waist band customarily worn by children at this time. The garment may further include any other features customarily formed in garments of the type in question as, for instance, a belt 33 held in belt loops 3% located upon the rear panel 11; furthermore, any

The v desired ornamentation or special features may be included in the garment, as indicated by way of example at 35 in Fig. 1. In practice, the panels 11 and 12 are folded upon each other on the shoulder line 14 and the fastening devices 16 and 17 are connected whereby said panels and the lateral extensions 15 are fixed in registry with each other to form the dress and its sleeves, the dress, as before stated, being slitted along its opposite sides. In its assembled condition the garment may be easily put on and taken off y simply disconnecting the fastening devices 37 and 29 and 30.

In its dismantled condition the garment may be laid out perfectly flat and thus is capable of being washed and ironed with a minimum of effort and without requiring any special skill on the part of the laundress.

'When assembled in its intended form. the

garment provides a dress of the combination type, which is attractive in appearance and which is easily put on and taken off. At the same time, cutting and sewing of the garment is reduced to the simplest form whereby waste of material and effort is reduced to a minimum.

While my invention is specially adapted for childrens garments of the bloomer dress type, it may readily be adapted for garments of other types. In any case, any suitable material or combination of materials may be used in the manufacture of the garment.

Various modifications in the specific form Shown and described may be made within the scope of the claims without departing from the spirit of my invention.

I claim:

1. A garment comprising a continuous section of material folded upon itself to form front and back panels of a dress, means for detachably connecting said front and back with each other, and an undergarment comprising two connected sections, one of which is permanently attached to one of said panels and the other of which is adapted to be detachably connected with the same panel.

2. A garment comprising integral front and rear anels folded upon themselves to form a ress, lateral extensions on said panels arranged to define the sleeves, means for detachably connecting said panels at their side edges, and an undergarment com prising a front section permanently at tached to one of said panels and a rear section adapted to be detachably connected with the same panel.

3. A garment comprising integral front and rear panels folded upon themselves to form a dress, lateral extensions on said panels arranged to define the sleeves, means for detachably connecting said panels at their side edges, and bloomers comprising one section permanently connected with one of said panels and another section folded upon said first section and detachably connected with said panel.

4. A garment comprising integral front and rear panels folded upon themselves to form a dress, lateral extensions on said panels arranged to define the sleeves, means for detachably connecting said panels at their side edges, bloomers comprising a front section permanently connected with the inner surface of said front panel at a distance from its free edge, a rear section foldable upon said front section, means for detachably connecting said sections along their opposite edges, and means for detachably conniacting said rear section with said front pane In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
