Abstract
856,571. Thermal switches. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. March 18, 1958 [April 25, 1957], No. 8704/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XIII] The outer limbs 12 of a snap-acting bimetal are narrower than the middle limb 13 and are joined to an end bridge-portion 15 by enlarged parts 12a which are crimped at 17 to bow the limb 13. A hole 13a receives a screw or bolt and holes 13b engage orienting protuberances, e.g. on a heat-conducting lug, while the end 16 may actuate a contact-opening device. After snap-action at high temperature the bimetal may cycle at subsequent low temperatures and require manual resetting to the pre-snap position. Specification 684,990 is referred to.
