Abstract

855,305. Thermal switches. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Aug. 18, 1958 [Oct. 31, 1957], No. 34017/57. Addition to 802,333. Class 38 (5). [Also in Groups XI, XIII and XXXV] Movement of a bellows 8 due to pressure changes in a liquid 18 produced by variations in the temperature thereof operates a switch 12 controlling energization of a heater 19 for the liquid. Expansion of the bellows 8 is limited by a metal strap 9. The switch 12 with its operating member 13 is carried on rods 16 on a closure plug 10 screwed into the end wall 3 of the jacket 1. Springs 17 on the rods 16 yieldably press the switch against the ends of the rods. The position of the switch may be adjusted by mounting it on a rod threaded through an aperture in the end wall 3, Fig. 2 (not shown), and the rod is held in adjusted position by a lock nut. The rod may be surrounded by a further flexible bellows sealed against the wall 3 and the switch 12.
