Abstract
855,055. Soil stabilization. VENANZETTI, M. Aug. 6, 1959, No. 26850/59. Class 68(1). [Also in Group X] Secured to the front end of a sole plate 13 of a vibratory tamper is a pedestal 11 having an upper surface 32 so inclined that the out of balance forces set up by a vibrator of the rotating, eccentric masses type 10 pass through the C.G. of the sole plate. Supported by a pair of springs 17 above the sole plate is a base plate 5 carrying a motor 6 connected by a belt drive 8 to the vibrator. The output shaft of the motor and the input shaft of the vibrator are at the same level. The springs are arranged symmetrically of the transverse centre plane of the sole plate and asymmetrically of the similar plane of the base plate. Tensioning pulleys are provided on the base plate for the belt drive.
