Abstract
854,879. Containers ; stoppers. BRITISH XYLONITE CO. Ltd. April 3, 1957 [April 10, 1956], No. 10943/56. Classes 66 and 125(3). A container body 1, open at the base, is injection moulded from synthetic plastics material, e.g. polyethylene, and the base end is later closed by attaching to it a base element 7 the outer portion of which is crimped round the lower end of the body wall of the container. The container walls may be resilient, or rigid as in Fig. 3. A base element of plastics material thicker than the body wall may be fitted, the joint between the two parts being welded or fixed by adhesive, Fig. 2 (not shown). The container body may be of a vinyl plastic and the base of sheet metal or board, shaped either flat, concave, convex or undulating. As shown in Fig. 3, an oil can has a metal base which is flexible to expel the oil. According to the Provisional Specification, the body 1 may be formed at its lower end with a peripheral flange and a disc of plastics material secured to the flange by adhesive or high frequency welding.
