Abstract

915,123. Container closures. AMERICAN FLANGE & MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. Nov. 26, 1959, No. 40218/59. Class 125(3). A container closure for fitting to an upstanding neck 4 formed integrally with the container wall, comprises a collar member 5 of resilient plastics material internally screw-threaded to receive a plug 7, the collar member 5 being held in place by an apertured metal ring or flange member 12 round a part of which the member 5 is moulded, and the members 4 and 12 being crimped together. The plug 7, which has inward lugs 11 and the collar 5 may be of polyethylene and the member 12 of steel. The member 5 may have a projecting head on its outer side, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown); or it may be polygonal in its lower portion, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) and not elliptical as shown in Fig. 2. The member 12 may be welded to the neck 4, Figs. 9-11 (not shown).
