Abstract

1302493 Packages; portable containers TETRA PAK INTERNATIONAL AB 9 Aug 1971 [1 Sept 1970] 37368/71 Headings B8C and B8D A liquid-filled container 1 is provided with a domed diaphragm bottom 2, which is flexed and held in a dished configuration 10 by a pressure member 8, Fig. 1 (not shown), whilst the container is filled, which maintains this configuration after closing the aperture 9, and which reassumes a domed configuration when the aperture closure is removed, the diaphragm bottom being disposed above the plane of a peripheral base rim 3 in the domed configuration. The construction permits the container to be filled entirely with the liquid whilst allowing opening of the container without spillage since the liquid level drops as the bottom flexes outwardly on opening. The container body may be made of plastics, expanded plastics, paper, plastics-coated paper or metal, the bottom being of more flexible or of thinner material than that of the container body. The bottom may be folded concertina fashion.
