Abstract
854,854. Boxes. HEDLEY & CO. Ltd., T. Nov. 29, 1957 [Dec. 3, 1956], No. 37350/57. Class 18. A carton 45, Fig. 3, has a separate top panel 56 that is enclosed in the carton when the top flaps thereof are folded down, the panel 56 having a handle 64 and means for distributing any pull on the handle over the area of the panel 56. As shown a reinforcing sleeve 55 may first be inserted in the carton 45 and the means for distributing a pull on the handle over the panel 56 may be a rod 65, Fig. 5, passing through loops 60, 61, in the ends of the handle. To prevent the contents of the carton from escaping through the apertures formed for the handle a tape 66 may be stuck over the rod 65. A pliable thermoplastic bag may be included between the sleeve 55 and the carton 45 or the thermoplastic bag may replace the sleeve 55. A tear tape 44 is included. This may extend round three sides only to produce a pivoted lid or round four sides to produce a lid that can be replaced on the sleeve 51.
