Abstract

853,597. Nozzles. VYZKUMNY A ZKUSEBNI LETECKY USTAV. Jan. 17, 1958 [Jan. 26, 1957], No. 1680/58. Class 69 (3). An adjustable nozzle for spreading liquid insecticide from aircraft comprises a tubular body 1 with crescent-shaped grooves 2 cut into its outer wall to form longitudinally extending rows of liquid outlet orifices 3. The width of the grooves determines one dimension of the rectangular orifices, and the other dimension is determined by the width of longitudinally extending grooves 5 in the outer wall of a tubular bushing 4 fitting tightly within the body. A disc 7 closes one end of the body and is threaded to a rod 8 extending through a cap 11 closing one end of an adjustable sleeve. The sleeve is moved axially of the body, by rotation of the rod, to cut off the liquid flow from the desired number of orifices. Liquid is supplied through a passage 12 and flows past a valve 13 to the bushing interior, and then through openings 6 in the bushing to the grooves 5 and orifices 3.
