Class 20(1) [Also in Groups XXX and XXXIV] In a glass covering or other architectural structure and a transport system the transport system comprises a plurality of parallel tracks and a plurality of series of rollers to roll along the tracks, the rollers of each series being spaced along the tracks, and the glass covering or other architectural structure has a plurality of runners to run respectively on the series of rollers. A channel shaped rail 1, supported on tubular members 14, vertically adjustably slidably mounted in tubular members 13 driven into the ground, supports rollers 2 interconnected by spacing rods 6 attached to plates 7 mounted on the rollers 2 by bushes 8. An inverted channel 3, supporting a load such as a glass covering structure 4, bears on the rollers 2 so that by pushing or pulling the structure 4 it is moved along the rail 1 on the rollers 2. Washers 5 mounted on the rollers and held thereon by split pins 10 are provided with part spherical surfaces facing adjacent channel walls and prevent excessive lateral movement of the rollers 2. The plates 7 associated with each end roller 5 are joined by a cable 12 which passes round pulleys mounted at each end of the rail 1..If a heavy load is to be moved the cable 12 may be connected to one or more windlass mountings which mountings may be fitted with a braking mechanism if the load is on a slight incline. The tracks can be mounted on sleepers and suitable portable tracks may be mounted in lorries to move heavy loads such as steel safes. The channels 3 may be incorporated in a separate vehicle adapted to carry a load. Specification 823,938 is referred to.
