Abstract

860,526. Gangways. CHASSIS METALLIQUE BELGE CHAMEBEL S.A. June 3,1959 [Oct. 14, 1958], No. 19043/59. Class 113. In an embarkation gangway the supporting framework 1 is a lazy tongs arrangement and a superstructure 20 is telescopic so that the whole is variable in length. The gangway is pivotally supported at one end, both horizontally and vertically, to a fixed structure 9, e.g. an airport waiting room, and the other end by a conveying device 18 adapted to traverse in any direction fitted with a hydraulic jack 17 so that the gangway may be moved in all directions and arranged to line up with a conveyance embarkation entrance 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP>, e.g. of an aircraft. The superstructure 20 may have windows or may be made from a transparent synthetic material and it may be supported above the framework 1. The device 18 may be power driven and may be fitted with caterpillars. The gangway may be retractable on to the conveyance.
