Class 139 A magnetic escapement comprises an escape wheel 16, Fig. 3, the pole teeth 16a of which move between the poles 10c, 10d of a V-shaped permanent magnet 10, Fig. 1, of laminated construction. A non-magnetic safety member 15, Fig. 2, is fixed in dove-tailed recesses 10f, 10g, of the arms 10a, 10b of the magnet 10. Specifications 698,406, 742,302 and 852,812 are referred to.
