Abstract

851,762. Stud and socket fastenings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Feb. 26, 1958 [March 4, 1957], No. 6301/58. Class 44. A device for attaching a member having a cavity on one face to a support comprises a hollow eyelet 3 having an outwardly flared end portion 5 the peripheral edge of which is formed with outwardly projecting teeth 6, the outer face of the toothed portion being flat for engaging the bottom of the cavity so that when the flared portion is collapsed to extend radially of the eyelet the toothed portion slides over the bottom of the cavity and the teeth are forced into the side wall of the cavity. The teeth may be pressed outwardly by a tool 14 which collapses the flared portion which extends from a coned-shaped portion 7. A snap fastener stud 8 may be fitted over the end of the eyelet and may engage in a socket 10 secured by a ring 12 to material 11.
