Abstract

1284833 Releasable fastenings A RAYMOND 6 Nov 1970 [6 Nov 1969] 52989/70 Heading E2B A resilient plastics fastener comprises a hollow tubular body 11 and a pin 12 which can be forced into the bore of the body, an external circumferential bead 14 at one end portion of the body, an internal projection 15 at the other end portion of the body and an external circumferential flange 16 on the body spaced from the bead and from the projection, the arrangement being such that the pin can be forced into the body so as to expand the body outwardly in the region of the projection so as to clear the said one end portion of the body so that said one end portion of the body which is formed with the bead can flex inwardly. The fastener is used to secure a carpet to a support panel the fastener first being passed through an aperture in the support panel after which the pin is forced into the bore to secure the body in place; an eyelet in the carpet then being engaged over the bead which because of the disposition of the pin can flex inwardly. To assist the flexing the upper portion of the body is formed with a plurality of axially extending slots (not shown).
