Abstract

1,137,727. Stud fastenings. ITW Ltd. 6 Dec., 1967 [8 Dec., 1966], No. 55046/66. Heading E2B. A fastener of resilient plastics material comprises a shank 11 for insertion into an aperture and a head 12 for receiving a trim, the head having a recess 21 and a substantially rectangular outer periphery and a slot extending respectively from the outer ends of one diagonal towards the axis of the fastener and into the recess. The shank is solid or hollow and slotted with exterior flutings. Each side of the underface of the fastener has an axially extending portion 26. A solid cylindrical part 18 is joined to the head by an annular frangible portion 19 and is driven into the shank to urge it outward to secure the fastener in the aperture. A trim 40 snap engages the head.
