Abstract

565,289. Snap fasteners. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. April 9, 1943, No. 5721. Convention date, March 30, 1942. [Class 44] The socket 10 of a snap fastener is formed with an enlarged recess at the rear so that the split spring ring 20 can tilt axially and expand to allow the stud to be disengaged only when a pull is exerted in a specific direction. A bent-in portion 23 of the socket wall limits the tilting of the spring. In another form, the ends of the split spring are bent down to engage projections on the lower edge of the socket, and the top of the stud is slightly distorted from the circular form.
