Abstract

An electrode grid for an electric accumulator is formed of a lead alloy containing 0.01-2.0% of cobalt. The grid may have the following composition:- .Sb.3 - 12 .As.0.2 - 2 .Sn.0.1 -0.4 .Ag.0.03-0.6 .Co.0.01-0.1 .Si.0.01-0.1 .Cu.0.007 .Pb and impurities the remainder.. Alternatively the grid may have the composition- .Co.0.5 .Sb.6.22 .Co.1.09 .Pb and impurities the remainder.. The grid may be coated with cobalt by electrolysis by chemical precipitation of cobalt from a cobalt salt which salt may be contained in the active material applied to the grid, or by deposition of cobalt from a cobalt-containing vapour.
