Abstract
An anode for use in cathodic protection and other electrolytic processes comprises a body of lead or lead alloy, e.g. containing 0.01-0.5% of Te or Bi with or without 0.1-3% Ag, incorporating platinum micro-electrodes and supported by engagement with a member or structure formed from Ti, Zr, Nb or Ta arranged for connection with the part with which the anode is to be used, e.g. a structure to be cathodically protected. The supporting member may comprise a rod of Ti, Zr, Nb or Ta provided with a copper core and embraced by and projecting from the body to engage with another part of Ti, Zr, Nb or Ta which in turn is arranged for connection with the part to be used. The body may be formed from dispersion-strengthened lead alloy containing oxides.
