Abstract

850,327. Electric fans. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 7, 1958 [Nov. 12, 1957], No. 35215/57. Class 110 (1). An electric fan comprises a cup-shaped body 2 supporting an electric motor 1 and a spinner 8, carrying one or more fan blades 9, set in the open mouth of the body 2, the body 2 being apertured at 11 for the ingress of air and a gap 10 being provided between the spinner 8 and the open mouth of the body 2 to provide for the flow of cooling air over the motor. The air passes through gaps in the stator of the motor and between the stator and the body 2. The spinner 8 and blades 9 are an integral plastics moulding. The body 2, a guard ring 3 and spokes 4 are also an integral plastics moulding. The fan stands on a pivoted back-rest 6 and two feet (not shown) provided on the guard-ring 3.
