An improvement in the counterbalancing mechanism of Specification 724,471,in which an object to be supported from a fixture 97 is coupled by a pair of parallel links 86, 96 to a supporting member 77 and in which a spring 112 acts between the links 86, 96 to provide a counterbalancing force, consists in providing readily detachable side coveis 91, 92 enclosing the links 86, 96 and spring 112 for the purpose of facilitating adjustment and repair. The spring pressure is adjusted by a nut 109 in the tubular member 96 which has a slot allowing this. Movement of the links is limited by pins 124 on the fixture 97 engaging in arcuate slots 122 on the ends of link 96.
