635,983. Resilient mountings. PRICE, B. L. Oct. 28, 1947, No. 30875/46. [Class 108 (iii)] A spring support mechanism in which the parts are proportional to satisfy a given relation and thus give a constant supporting force, comprises a frame 13 which supports a load by bolts 22 and is connected to a beam 11 by two primary springs 20 and linkwork consisting of two sets of levers 12, 14 pivoted at 15, 16, 25. The force of the springs 20 is adjustable by means of bolts 18, 18a. Between the two pivots 16 a secondary spring 19 is connected, the force of which is adjustable by means of a plug 26 having a helical groove engaging the spring convolutions. To adjust the device for any given load, the spring 19 is detached and the links 14 brought to a horizontal position by means of bolts 18a. The spring 19 is then attached and the plug 26 adjusted to give the required stiffness.
