Abstract

958,691. Seat adjustments. MILLION-GUIET-TUBAUTO. Mav 2, 1961 [May 19, 1960], No. 15852/61. Heading A4J. An adjustable seat supporting mechanism comprises lower supports 5, horizontally movable plates 16, 17 mounted on the lower supports and upper supports 7 attached to the seat 3, the upper supports 7 having projections 12, 13 near each end of the seat, projection engaging means 24-28 being provided on the plates 16, 17 and fixed vertically relative to the lower supports 5 to locate the projections 12, 13 and disengaging means 37 being provided to move the plates 16, 17 horizontally to disengage the projections so that they may be moved vertically. As shown in Fig. 1 spindles 18, 19, 21, 22 slidably engage in slots 20, 23 in the plate 16, 17 respectively. Springs 30, 31 draw the plate together so that teeth and notches 24-28 engage with the studs 12, 13. An off-centred disc 36 acts on a flange 35 of an aperture 34 in the plate 16 to disengage the stud 12 from the teeth 24, 25. A similar off-centred disc 36A and aperture 34A are provided in the plate 17 for the release of the stud 13 from notches 26-28. In a modification shown in Fig. 4 plates 44, 45 are drawn together by a spring 48 and studs 12, 13 are engaged in notches 53-55 formed in slots 51, 52 in the plates. A spur 59, off-centred in relation to a rod 43 (Fig. 5) is movable by a handle 42 to engage with bent up portions 56, 57 on the plates. Movement of the handle in the direction of the arrow F2 releases the stud 12. The stud 13 is released when the handle is moved in the direction of the arrow F3. The upper support 7 may be fixed to the seat 3 or it may be adjustably connected thereto by sliding means. As shown in Fig. 5 members 8, 9, 10 on the support 7 engage in a slide 11 fixed to the seat 3.
