Abstract

550,424. Seats. HELLER, M. July 4, 1941, No. 8478. [Class 52 (ii)] An adjustable seat comprises a seat member 3 and a back member 4, which may be pivoted together and are resiliently suspended by a tensile member 5, Fig. 1, from a,frame 20 having front and back supports 2, 1 on which the members 3 and 4 are freely suspended and are adapted to slide. The seat may be provided with lateral bars 7 to which the members 5 are attached and which may be provided with notches 9 holes, &c. engaged by a spring catch 10. The bars 7 may rest on a front rail 2 which may be replaced by rollers attached to the frame 20. An armless seat, Fig. 3, has the tensile members 5 attached to the back rail 1 lateral movement of the seat being prevented by rails 17. To assist in the adjustment of the seat a guide 14 may be provided on which pins 18 slide. The guide 14 may be provided with corrugation or indentations 14a, Fig. 4, in which the pins 18 engage. The guide 14 may be slidably held in a slot 15 at one end the other end being hooked to engage studs 16.
