Abstract
525,234. Book stands &c. WALKER, Ltd., A. E., and WILLIAMSON, N. Feb. 20, 1939, No. 5596. [Class 52 (i)] A stand and sloping rest for books of reference such as directories comprises a rigid frame with back 1, 'base 2, and triangular sides 3, and a movable book support 10 adapted to occupy an upright position against the back as shown in Fig. 2 when the books are out of use and an inclined position when a book is opened with its sides resting against the edges of the triangular side frames, as shown in Fig. 5. The support 10 has upper and lower ledge fittings 11 formed with tubular sockets 13 for .cross-rods 12, the ends of these rods projecting into guide tracks along the back and base so that the support may be moved to the sloping position by pulling on a cord 21 until its lower edge abuts a rubber buffer 7 at the front of the base frame, and be restored to the upright position by pushing it in at the front. Rollers 15 are mounted on the rods 12 at cut away parts of the sockets 13, to facilitate movement. The books may be secured in place by springs 16 hooked to the lower ledge 11 and having knobs 18 at their upper ends to engage them in notches 19 of the upper ledge.
