Abstract
850,152. Seats: resilientmountings. SCHNEIDER, H. J. Feb. 13, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1958], No. 5037/59. Classes 52(1) and 52(2) In a vehicle seat 2 the seating surface 3 includes a trough shaped member 5 for the pelvis, a thigh support 6 pivoted thereto and a surface 8 inclined against the backrest 4 which has individual cushions 16 of different depth, each cushion 16 consisting of foam rubber with a cover and supported in a frame 17 by means of pre-stressed coil springs 20, 20<SP>1</SP> anchored to the frame on both sides in securing apertures 22. The cushions can be arranged to give a desired contour by anchoring the springs in appropriate apertures. The thigh support 6 is adjustable and lockable in the desired position by means of a spring-loaded hinge 9 and clamping nut member. In a modification, Fig. 3, the seat has a bowl-like member 24 for supporting the pelvis and the member 24 is supported by coil springs 26 having a pitch which becomes increasingly smaller toward the seat frame 27.
