Abstract

1386737 Headrests for vehicle seats RECARO GmbH & CO 22 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8756/73 Heading A4J A vehicle seat headrest comprises a plate 2 on which is supported a cushion 4, the upper edge and sides of the plate being formed with at least two grooves 5, 6 open in opposite directions, and deformable upon impact from above or at the sides of the headrest. The central part 7 of the plate is provided with apertures 12 such that the central part 7 deforms if the energy of impact cannot be completely absorbed by the grooves when the headrest is subjected to impact from above or the side but does not deform when the headrest is subjected to impact from the front. The headrest is adjustable about a horizontal axis defined by screws 9 and is held against movement by friction discs 8.
