Abstract

848,868. Industrial lift trucks. CLARK EQUIPMENT CO. April 2, 1959 [April 9, 1958], No. 11217/59. Class 79(3). An industrial lift truck comprises a load carrying unit and a tractor unit connected together by means which allow relative movement vertically between the units. The load carrying unit comprises a frame member 25, mast 26 and load carrying arms and is supported on castors. The tractor unit is supported upon a frame 18 mounted upon the steerable wheel 15. The frame of the load carrying unit includes a member 40, Fig. 3, upon which are mounted channels 43, 44 and bars 45, 46 forming between them a channel. A member 54, Fig. 4, attached to the tractor unit, comprises rollers 47, 48, 55, 56, 50, 51 which operate within the channels 43, 44 and that defined by the bars 45 and 46 to provide a connection which allows relative vertical but not angular movement between the units and permits ready disconnection of the units by raising one relative to the other to a sufficient extent.
