Abstract
In a process for the electrolytic recovery of tungsten scrap (see Group XXXVI) an aqueous solution of ammonium tungstate may be boiled to precipitate ammonium paratungstate which is decomposed with hydrochloric acid to yield tungstic oxide and reduced to metallic tungsten by heating in hydrogen to 700 DEG to 750 DEG C. An aqueous solution of sodium or potassium or the tungstate may be mixed with boiling hydrochloric acid to precipitate tungstic oxide which is reduced as above.
