Abstract
Alloys for the high temperature use have composition within the following range in per cent by weight: .C.0.45-0.55 .Cr.23.0-27.0 .Ni.34.0-37.0 .Mo.1.0-2.0 .Si.1.0-2.5 .Mn.1.0-4.0 .Al.0.05- 0.4 .N.0.15- 0.4 .B.0.001-0.04 .P.up to 0.04 .S.up to 0.04 .Fe.the remainder The alloys may be used as parts for heating furnaces, blades of gas turbines, internal combustion engine valves, and weight carrying parts such as shafts, rolls rails and beams. In making the alloys virgin metals or scrap metals such as iron-chromium-nickel alloys may be used, nitrogen being added as high-nitrogen ferro-chrome, boron as ferro-boron or boron nitride containing 15-18% of boron. Aluminium may be added to the melt in a container which is submerged in the melt.
